    Indiana mSA's Unemployment Rate At 5.7%

    Indiana tied with three other counties for the 50th lowest unemployment rate among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.

    Unemployment rates and rankings of adjacent counties were: Jefferson (5.2%, t-34th); Clearfield (5.4%, t-40th); Cambria
    (5.5%, t-43rd); Westmoreland (5.0%, t-27th); and Armstrong (5.9%, 56th). Unemployment rates across Pennsylvania ranged from 3.5 percent in Chester County to 7.0 percent in Forest County.

    January’s Not Seasonally Adjusted Nonfarm Jobs Detail Total nonfarm jobs in the mSA decreased 2,000 to 30,500 in December. Due to winter break at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, state government had the largest over-the-month decrease in jobs (-800).

    UPMC notifying patients due to employee that developed TB

    UPMC said Friday a UPMC Presbyterian ER employee developed tuberculosis and the system is notifying and testing patients and staff who may have come in contact with the employee. The employee of the Presby emergency department, who was not identified, is on medical leave and recovering at home.     CBS TV's Pittsburgh GM to retire

    Chris Pike, vice president and general manager of CBS Television Stations’ properties in Pittsburgh since 2004, on Friday said he plans to retire in mid-May.     PPG has partnered with Home Depot to sell new super-concentrated exterior wood stain in 15-ounce pouch packages.     Unemployment in Pennsylvania remains steady

    Jobs are up as the unemployment rate remains steady, according to the state Department of Labor and Industry. Total nonfarm jobs are up 2,700 from February to a record high of more than 6 million, the department said in its March report.
