Wigle Whiskey, the Strip District distillery themed off the region's spirit-producing history, is preparing to open a tasting room in a building with plenty of history of its own.
Wigle recently indicated on its Facebook page that it will open a new tasting room in the Omni William Penn Hotel, which celebrated its 100th year of operation in 2016.
Now open for five years as the region's first distillery since Prohibition, Wigle has since expanded to produce gin and other liquors besides whiskey.

A Pittsburgh entrepreneur has been named National Exporter of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy President and CEO Meg Cheever is leaving in March 2018 from the organization she founded more than two decades ago.

The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, Pittsburgh Public Schools and CVS Health on Thursday launched an initiative to bring a drug prevention program to the school system.

Helomics Corp. and the University of Pittsburgh have reached a five-year research and collaboration agreement.

The Pittsburgh region lost population at a rate of about 42 people a week between 2010 and 2016 in the latest data released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau, one of the steepest drops among major metropolitan areas in the U.S.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is stopping its preliminary work on the Mon-Fayette Expressway's 14-mile completion after the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission's postponement earlier this week of a vote on the $2.2 billion outlay.
