Established in 1956, the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) is an independent authority staffed and regulated through the Department of Community and Economic Development. The Board is comprised of four cabinet secretaries (Dept. of Community and Economic Development, Dept. of Agriculture, Dept. of Labor & Industry and the Dept. of Banking & Securities), eight governor appointees, and four legislative appointees (Minority Leader of House, Majority Leader of House, Minority Leader of the Senate, and Majority Leader of the Senate).
Urban Outfitters would have a tough time selling a soft opening for the company’s new facility in White Township. It’s what the company could have said in August when the first of 100 local employees came on board at the company’s new fulfillment center at Windy Ridge Business and Technology Park.

Nothing soft about 720,000 square feet under one roof, equal to 18 football fields, the single largest structure Indiana County has ever seen.

Wednesday October 16 marked the symbolic opening, ribbon-cutting and all, when URBN — the corporate banner for the international retail chain — threw open the doors for business and community leaders to see the conversion of what was 48 acres of uncut brush just 13 months earlier.

Nothing soft about a 24/7 construction schedule launched in late September 2018 that brought in 800 tradesmen and laborers to put up the four-story behemoth.
